Reunion Update

Sorry for the lack of blogging. I took our senior class to New York city for 5 days. Man, I don't know how you guys live in that cold...brrrr

Looking over the comments left over the past number of weeks, I propose a few things. If there's a desire to get together somewhere else other that PR, let's address that after we decide what to do about PR. Whoever decides to organize that trip please feel free to use this blog.

I am still planning on being in PR for sure July 10th and 11th (Monday and Tuesday). I might get there earlier over the weekend or arrive Monday and stay till Wednesday or Thursday. It looks like Laurie and I will take separate vacations (Chicago) for the 1st time this year so it looks like I'm goin' solo. I suggest those who have the $$ and time to take the whole family, do so. Those who don’t can join me.

Let's try to get a count so we can proceed to talk about accommodations.

I wanna be like Jack

The show is 24. It's the only show I watch on a regular basis. It comes on Monday nights at 9. The Cardona families are hooked. We were having our monthly poker night at Dave's house a few months ago. The TV was on in the background when a clip from the new season of 24 came on. We all turned at the same time to watch the clip. Silence was loud. When it was over, we all stood and gave Jack a standing ovation. Yeah, we're that serious.

Cousin Reunion

Hola Primos,

As we continue our talks about the possibility of a “cousin” reunion for the week of July 9th, here’s my understanding of the status of our extended family.

Ulysses Jr.-yes
Dave-I don’t know
Chicky-I don’t know
Jim-no
Tom-Probably
Ron-yes
Patti-no
Jeannie-yes
Tony-yes
Carlos-no
Miriam-no
Chati-don’t hold your breath
Nair-I don’t know
Millie-I don’t know
Gringy-yes
Sammy-of course!
(6/16 total so far)

Ok, here’s my suggestion. Please hear me out!

Most of the families that are not attending are because of reasons such as: other family plans and commitments, money, uncertainly of lodging, bad time etc.

I do not think our spouses and kids would have an enjoyable time sitting around Mama Con’s house in San Sebastian reminiscing of when we were kids and catching up on each others lives. We (the cousins) however, would probably love to just simply being in the presence of each other for the first time since, well, probably EVER! Can you imagine, all of us together!

I would like to suggestion that we shorten the time to 3-4 days (including 2 weekend days so it would only be 2 missed work days) and truly make this a “cousin” reunion. We could go individually( no spouses, no kids). We could get 2 large rooms or a suite. Yeap, one for the men and one for the ladies. We could stay either in San Sebastian or even in San Juan. We could rent a fifteen passenger van for all of us to travel and stay together. I’m certain that the men would have no problem cramming 7-10 of us in a room; same goes for the ladies. Even if the place was $200 a night between all of us, well, it would be quite reasonable.

I certainly do not mean to offend any spouses or any of the children by excluding them. I am just certain that including entire families will be such a large task, that it will in turn cancel our plans for this event and it just won’t ever happen. I think this would be a reasonable and “do-able” alternative before deciding to simply cancel the event.

Please think about it and talk to your families about this proposal. Let me know your thoughts.

I want to encourage everyone to utilize that blog that Jr. set up for us. It’s a great way to stay connected.

I hope more than anything that we can make this reunion happen! I truly think it’s a once in a lifetime chance.

Love you all,
Ron
