Lans-Bowl gone up in flames

I thought this was worth sharing because many of us have memories there. Whether it was a date, the boy’s night out or a church youth group function; most of us had some fun times at the Lans-Bowl on Main Street in Lansdale. Early this morning around 4:30am the Lans-bowl burnt nearly to the ground after a fire that lasted most of the day. The whole area was evacuated. The street is still closed.

NO WAY !!!! I can't believe it. Man, so many memories. Like Ron said, Dates, hang outs, and Dates, 3 games for a dollar and shoes for .25, and Dates, getting yelled at because we threw the ball too soon and it hit the gate, and Dates, Throwing the ball as hard as we could and watching the pins bang all over the place, and Dates, the ole so good soft prezels, and Dates... Alot of memories... All good ones, it's a shame.

WE RAN OUT OF WATER??!! Many of my first dates were at Lans-Bowl. I am really crushed. Memories of Bob throwing that ball as hard as he could just as the gate was fully up. Soft pretzels on our way to the Y-Fair next store and on the way back. The funky shoes... I can't believe it.

Contrary to the "urban legend", I was not kicked out of Lans-Bowl.
(I was simply asked not to return.)
And I guess now I won't . . .

The local newspaper put together a really impressive slide show of the fire. If you get a chance check it out.

Yeap, there's nothing left of what used to be Lans-bowl.

Chick, you'll have to break bowling pins and gates elsewhere.

U jr., you still wear funky shoes so no major changes for you.

Titi Elba, I'm sure you have many great memories of other places to reflect on.

Tom, thanks for clarifying the urban legend. Although, many of us remember it quite differently.

Maureen, I notice Chick never did answer just how many dates he was referring to.

Dave, I guess you have to find a new place to umm… ya know….ummmm…discuss the current status of politics. Yeah, that’s it.
