Cousins, brothers and sisters from Lansdale and Philadelphia, PA., Orlando Florida, Georgia, Mexico and the motherland, Puerto Rico
Today is my birthday and I complete 50 years of existence. If I may quote the great actor Anthony Hopkins from one of my favorite movies , "50 years. Don't they go by in a blink?" They say 50 is the new 40, which I take it to mean with modern medicine being what it is, our life expectancy is longer. But we all know there are no guarantees. I've said this before to a few close friends and family, that I could die right now and I would die a very happy man.
I was born into the most loving family anyone could ever ask for. From my wife and kids, my mom and pop, two great brothers, down to the best cousins, aunts and uncles, I have a great family. I hope I can leave as big of a legacy of love that has been handed down to me from Mama Con, Papa Gume, Mama Catalina and Papa Oro. By God's grace, I also had the privilege to be part of the greatest, loving culture in the world: the Puerto Rican/Hispanic culture. I wouldn't trade it for the world.
I live in a country where freedom, opportunity and prosperity abound. I live in exciting times and have seen much of the world through past employment.
Every night I get to sleep next to the love of my life, which God has blessed me with for over 32 years. That love and passion will never die. I have two children and a grandson who give me great joy and I love unconditionally.
I get paid for doing what I love. I've been given more material possessions and conveniences than I deserve.
I have the greatest group of friends. Not many but special, real people.
And best of all, I've been given the greatest gift of all: salvation through Christ, which ensures me eternity with my creator.
What more do I need? I am a blessed man.
They threw me a surprise birthday party tonight. Pictures tomorrow.
I think this picture says it. Junior is such a close part of my family; Correction: All of our families. This blog is just one of many examples of how he’s put the family at the forefront of his mind. He spearheaded the cousin’s reunion earlier this year. He also has a website with lots of cool pictures (http://family.ulysescardona.com/photos/index.html). I don’t know how old he is and I’m trying not to make a big deal of it because it’s such a monumental landmark. Really.

Happy Birthday to my (slightly) older brother, Gilberto Rolon, Jr.

Yesterday, Nov 28 was Pop's birthday. Happy Birthday to Pop. God has truly blessed us with this man. He is a pillar to our family. Today, we always hear talk about role models. How sportstars are looked up to as role models. My role model, my superhero has always been Pop. Pop always speaks really loud with his silence. Happy Birthday, Pop. Love you very mucho, Chicky ..........By the way, look for a similar posting on Friday. It will be Mom's birthday.

On Wednesday, I went to Pa. to see Ryan play his last football game for Pennbrook this year. Seeing him play just does my heart so good. He is a naturally talented young man. He plays five positions (Defensive end, Corner, Tight end, Fullback, and Wide Receiver) His goal is to play for the Forida Gators and wear number 25. I am so proud of my boys.
I filmed most of the game with my video camera. Towards the end of the game, put my camera down and they hand him the ball (fullback) and he rushes for 15 yards. Man, I got upset. So, I pick up my camera and I isolate the camera on him. Don't you know, they hand off the ball to him again and he runs for a 54 yard touchdown run..... UNBELIEVEABLE !!!! WHAT A MOMENT CAUGHT ON FILM. Click on the link below to see the 54 yard run.
